Pictures from a spring break trip to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.
Matt and I went to the Maryland side of Great Falls Park where we hiked along the C&O Canal and the Billy Goat Trail.
Liam and I tried to capture the sunset the other day at the National Harbor but didn’t have much luck. The sun set right behind a heavy set of clouds. Getting the typical sunset picture wasn’t working so I shot the sun and the Potomac River in the reflexion of a window.
Getting ready to head down to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee tomorrow. Planning on doing a little hiking, relaxing and touring around Gatlinburg. Looking forward to photographing the area. I return home Tuesday so watch for pictures mid next week!
The girls 1600 meter run had the closest finish of all the races at the VHSL AA State Indoor Track and Field Championships. Carolyn Bethel of Hidden Valley edged out Katie Fortner of Cave Springs by 1/100 of a second. Katie and Carolyn ran in first and second position for the entire race until the final 20 meters where they ran shoulder to shoulder. As Katie fell across the finish line you can see Carolyn’s foot had about a half a foot lead over Katie’s. Their times were 4:54.80 and 4:54.81. Carolyn also finished second in the 3200m and Katie won the 1000m and finished third in the high jump. Both are underclassmen and will return to face off next year.
Patience is really a virtue. During the 3200 meter run at the VHSL AA State Indoor Track and Field Championship, Cody Seymour was in last place after the first 200m. He continually gained position each lap and caught Skyline’s Thomas Madden at 1400m. Madden continued to lead the pack with Seymour at his heals for the next seven and a half laps. With 300 meters to go, Seymour made his pass and at the sound of the bell lap he kicked it into high gear, sprinting the final lap to an indoor PR time of 9:27.02.
